What is Industrial Engineering Technology?
Industrial Engineering Technology is about determining the most effective ways to use people, machines, materials, and information to make a product or to provide a service. As companies adopt management philosophies of continuous productivity and quality improvement to survive in the increasingly competitive world market, the need for Industrial Engineering Technologists is growing. Industrial Engineering Technologists figure out how to do things better. They engineer processes and systems that improve quality and productivity. They work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, energy, and other commodities and therefore save companies money. This program exposes students to a variety of fundamental skills utilized in entry-level industrial and manufacturing positions. Students will be exposed to various aspects of optimization, human factors, economic analysis, industrial processes, industrial planning procedures, computer applications, and report and presentation preparation. This program offers graduates an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that can help them pursue employment in a variety of entry-level positions that utilize various aspects of industrial engineering technology in both service and manufacturing organizations, such as industrial engineering technician, quality technician, test technician and manufacturing technician.
