Statement of Belief
The Winchester City University´s School of Theology was established to provide serious, realistic training for ministry so that people would be won to Christ and built up in the faith, resulting in healthy, growing churches and a perceptive application of the Bible to all facets of life.
Since the Bible is absolutely and finally authoritative as the inerrant Word of God, it is the basis for the total curriculum. Students are equipped with the necessary skills to understand and teach the Scriptures, developing above all a burning desire to know and do the will of God as revealed in the Old and New Testaments, for the essence of Reformed theology is a willingness constantly to conform all of life to the Word of God. Our primary distinctives are a commitment to historic Reformed theology and the Bible as God’s inerrant Word.
At the Westland City University´s School of Theology, we believe in one eternal, holy, and loving God who calls us to respond in faith. We, therefore, give the following testimony of our faith, realizing that for testimonies of faith to be Christian they must conform to God's revelation in the Holy Scriptures.

Revelation
God is revealed generally in the created order and in the human conscience. This Living God, however, has spoken specially to us in the covenantal story of the whole of Scripture and definitively in Jesus Christ. We believe in, treasure, and cherish the Bible as the written Word of God, and we believe that both the Old and New Testaments are necessary for understanding God's revelation in Scripture, both of which are to be interpreted in light of the revelation given to us in Jesus Christ. The Bible is inspired by God, and is fully authoritative and sufficient for Christian life and practice. We further believe that the Bible is historically reliable, and that its message is faithfully preserved in the textual tradition.

God
We believe in one God Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - who created all things visible and invisible, and out of chaos created order. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.
Our hearts are made glad that God is fully revealed in the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, who was born to the Virgin Mary through the agency of the Holy Spirit, and lived on earth as both fully human and fully divine. We are grateful that the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth, convicts us of sin, leads us to and incorporates us into Christ, and empowers us for Christian witness. |
Sin and Salvation
We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation.
We acknowledge that all have sinned, thus breaking our relationships with God, self, others and the whole created order, but give thanks for God's salvation from sin. We believe that through his exemplary life, sacrificial death, and bodily resurrection Jesus Christ is the only sufficient atonement for our sins. In keeping with the messianic prophecies of the Old Testament, Jesus died on the cross and was raised for our salvation. He returned to the Father and there intercedes for us. God's work of salvation is all by grace, not by our merits. We receive this great salvation when by the convicting power of the Holy Spirit we repent of our sin and believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. |
Response aand Eternal Destiny
We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace.
